·         What amount of money do I have to contribute in order to qualify for tax relief?

If you make a donation that totals €250 or more in any one year, you are eligible for tax deductions.

·         What amount of additional money will you be able to acquire for my €250?

In one year, if you donate €250 or more, CBM can get back 45 percent of that money. That means that if you donate €250, you'll get an extra €112.33 for your money.

·         What is my PPS number?

This is a number given to you by the Revenue Commissioners. You can find it on your payslip, a social welfare card, or in any letter from the Revenue Commissioners that you get.

·         I do not pay tax, but my husband/wife does?

You may still complete the form because you are taxed as a married couple. You simply need to provide the information for the person who pays the tax.

·         Is it possible to complete the form even if I do not pay any taxes?

If you were a self-assessed or PAYE taxpayer in the year of your donation, yes you can please fill out the form. We will be unable to claim tax otherwise.

·         What happens if I give donations to more than one charity?

The amount donated on the form is the money donated to CBM. It makes no difference if you have contributed to other charity as well.

·         If I complete and return the form, am I committing to make a donation?

Certainly not. We can claim tax back only on donations that you have already sent to us.

·         Is it necessary for me to disclose my earnings or tax information?

No. You are not required to disclose your earnings or the amount of tax you pay. We simply require your signature and PPS number. Additionally, the information you provide on a Charity Tax Relief Form is fully confidential.
