Today you can help us save the sight of more children like Lennard

With a gift today you can help fund life-saving surgery to remove cataracts.

Lennard is four and such a joy to be around. Despite the blindness his cataracts caused, he’s always been full of energy. Which made it tricky for his parents to stop him from running out into the busy road by their home.

Lennard’s parents longed to afford the surgery he desperately needed. But his father, Alex, earned just €5 a day as a construction worker. Even taking Lennard to the outreach clinic would mean Alex lost pay that his family depended on for food.Though he knew it would mean his family went hungry, Alex had to take Lennard to the outreach clinic.

“I was always worried, because my son often hits walls and stumbles. His younger brother Alexander (who is two) is already more independent than Lennard. Alexander even helps him putting on his shoes and clothes.”

At Lennard’s eye examination at the clinic it was confirmed – he had bilateral cataracts. The good news was his vision could be corrected with a simple operation. The impossible had happened! Lennard and his family were so thrilled and grateful. The next step was surgery, funded by amazing CBM supporters. Lennard had two separate procedures and each was a success. Lennard could see! For the first time, he was able to see his father’s face and give him a high five. Alex was delighted. Today, you have the opportunity to help even more children like Lennard with a bright future.

That’s the difference your generosity makes it can close the gap between a treatable condition and a life without sight.
