Leave a Gift in Your Will, and Create a Lasting Legacy

At CBM Ireland, we believe that every person on this planet deserves equal access to healthcare, education and a stable livelihood. We believe in an inclusive future shaped by equity, dignity, and opportunity for all. By leaving a gift in your Will, you will leave a legacy that will impact an entire generation.

What you need to get started

Why Should You Leave a Legacy?

A gift in your Will is one of the most powerful and generous acts you can make in your lifetime. It ensures your values live on, and allows CBM to continue bringing hope, dignity, and sight to the world’s most marginalised people.

More and more of our supporters are choosing to leave a gift to CBM. These legacies are transforming lives long after the donor is gone, funding sight-saving surgery, inclusive education, and vital rehabilitation services in the world’s poorest communities.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I leave a Legacy Gift in my Will to CBM Ireland?

A Legacy is part of your final wishes in the allocation of your estate, either as a fixed sum or a percentage of your estate. Legacies are a deeply meaningful final wish and cost nothing to add to your Will, and they ensure that your support continues. By leaving a Legacy, your support continues to fund essential programmes that directly benefit hundreds of children and families for generations to come.

Can I choose who benefits from my Gift?

Yes, we would be honoured to make sure that your final wishes are listened to and carried out accordingly. Please do reach out to us directly so we can discuss in more detail.

Is my Gift tax-free?

Yes, any gifts you leave to charities are tax free. This means that you may have Gifts allocated to different charities in your Will. Additionally, if you leave at least 10% of your total estate to a charity like CBM, the inheritance tax on the rest of your inheritance may also be reduced. We highly recommend that you discuss this with your Solicitor. You may also find more resources on MyLegacy.ie.

Can I dedicate an In-Memory donation at my wake instead of flowers?

Yes, we would be very happy to help you inform your family and friends of your wishes through the RIP.ie website, where your Death Notice and/or Anniversary Notice can include a short message of your wishes. Please do reach out to us so we can help you facilitate this.

What should I tell my Solicitor?

To simply leave a codicil, which is a short message in your Will, you would need to provide CBM Ireland’s registered charity details and the sum you wish to leave. We recommend that you contact your Solicitor as they are the best person suited to guide you. However, we would be happy to help you choose where your Gift is allocated, as we work in over 10 countries. Please contact us for more information.

Can I contact CBM Ireland for more information?

Yes, we are always happy to discuss our Legacy Programme. You may reach us directly on 01 873 0300 or email us at leaveagift@cbm.ie. You may also find us at 176 Ivy Exchange, Granby Place, Dublin 1, where we would be happy to sit down together and chat over a cup of tea.

We understand that creating or amending your Will may come with feelings of grief. If you are looking for support, you may contact the Irish Hospice Foundation national freephone service on 1800 80 70 77, available Monday to Friday, 10am–1pm.
