This year, to mark World Sight Day, CBM Ireland is holding its inaugural Concert in the Dark, on Friday 11th October.

The Venue

The concert will take place in the Christchurch Cathedral, located in the heart of medieval Dublin. A unique venue for a one-of-a-kind concert.

A reception with an exhibition of CBM Ireland’s Bridge the Gap project in Ethiopia will take place before the concert in the Crypt of the Cathedral from 6.45pm, with drinks and canapes.

The concert commences in the main Cathedral at 7.45pm and will end around 10.30pm.

The Experience

Concert in the Dark will be an exceptional event with one-off performances and surprise guests. A mixture of musical genres and performers, including African musicians and artists with disabilities.

You will find yourself in an atmosphere of semi-darkness. Just before a performance begins, the lights are fully dimmed so the Cathedral is shrouded in total darkness. Towards the end of the performance, the lights are slowly turned back on.

CBM Ireland’s desire is an immersive experience with a limited sense of sight and to raise your awareness towards avoidable blindness experienced by millions of people in the poorest countries of the world. With Concert in the Dark, we also hope to raise much-needed funds for CBM’s disability-inclusive development projects.

A raffle sponsored by Ethiopian Airlines will be held on the night for attendees. Prize is two return flights from Dublin to Addis Ababa with Ethiopian Airlines.

Be part of this unique experience and the first audience to witness the CBM Ireland Concert in the Dark.
