Please will you give Prakash and Yogendra the Gift of Sight?

Gift of sight appeal

How far would you travel to save the sight of a child you love?

I’d want to say, “to the moon and back”, though I know that’s not really possible.

Yogendra is 8. His father explains, “Everything looks blurry.” Then he pulls objects as close as possible to his eyes in a desperate attempt to see.

His little brother, Prakash, is only 4. He doesn’t talk much. But like Yogendra, he squints as he tries to focus on anything. Both parents are heartbroken by their children’s conditions. But with almost no money, what could they do about it?

This is what your Gift of Sight will do for a child like Prakash and Yogendra this Christmas

After a home visit by Sima, who works for a CBM partner, they took the boys to an eye clinic. There they learned both of them had cataracts and needed surgery immediately.

“I fainted after hearing that,” Mina says. “I felt helpless. My husband can’t work anymore. Both my sons are like this. How will they survive?”

I hope you can see that these boys need love like yours. You won’t have to travel to the mountains of Nepal. You only need to make a simple choice today – to care.

That’s why I hope you’ll take the opportunity to give now. You won’t have to make the 24 hour trek in a bus that Mina and her children took to get to Biratnagar Hospital on the other end of Nepal.

We’ll take care of the surgery. You take care of the love.

I know it takes a special person to feel someone else’s pain and act. But, I think that person is you. I hope I’m right. Because so many children like Mina’s – born with cataracts – need to be treated right away before it’s too late.
