Summary:

CBM and CRJA have been partners since 1993. This long partnership has enabled both organisations to improve their understanding of local issues and respond to the needs of people living with blindness and visual impairment.

With a massive influx of refugees from Sudan and Central African Republic since 2007, CRJA and CBM have conducted eye care outreach missions in the refugee camps and neighbouring communities of Gozbeida, Hadjar Hadid, Fouchana, Adre, Bahai and Gore. 1204 surgeries have been conducted and 454 nurses and community health workers have been trained, greatly enhancing the capacity of the local Community Health Care system. During this Irish Aid supported programme, 800 people will receive eye surgery and 400 local health staff will be trained.
