What is World Mental Health Day?

World Mental Health Day is observed on 10 October every year. The main objective of this day is to raise awareness and knowledge of mental health issues around the world and to advocate for support of mental health care. On this day the work of mental health workers all over the world is highlighted, and special focus is given on what needs to be done additionally to make health care a reality for people worldwide.

CBM and Community Mental Health

CBM and partners employ a community-based approach in tackling psychosocial disabilities, which are most times ‘invisible’. People affected by mental impairments have limited access to services and information and due to the lack of education, traditional beliefs and discrimination can be excluded from active participation in the community.

CBM with its partners works at the community level by providing community-based rehabilitation (CBR) services and ensures the full inclusion of mental health work. Our approach is a combination of education, medication, family support, practical advice and livelihood development.
