Summary:

There is currently no national Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT) service available in Zambia. The only primary ear care service is provided by a CBM sponsored Cheshire Home programme. Surgery has been provided by Dr. Kieran O’Driscoll from Ireland, and other visiting CBM surgeons.

There is a great need to establish a permanent and effective ear care service. This service must provide clinical expertise, hospital facilities, outreach work and training activities. This will programmatic approach will contribute to the long term prevention and treatment of hearing impairments in Zambia. This is turn will enable many people living with hearing impairments to access a better quality of life.

List of Services:

  • Construction of ENT and Audiology clinic for outpatients
  • Construction of an extension of an existing ward for patients
  • Construction of an extension to the existing operating theatre complex, which will facilitate ENT surgery
