Where we work

Rwanda

Location: Rwanda
Description: Community Based Rehabilitation

Summary:

This is a very large rehabilitation programme in Rwanda that reaches out to over 1 million people through house visits, day centres, clinics and medical treatment. The programme focuses on those with epilepsy, physical impairments, intellectual impairments, visually and/or hearing impairments.

Cataract identification is a major activity, and the programme plays a significant role in the Rwanda National Plan for Blindness Prevention through the screening and referral of patients to eye clinics. This has been a huge success for a programme that can now provide high quality treatment to the many patients identified by social workers.
