Summary:
The Association of People with Disabilities in Kenya (APDK) is a long established partner of CBM in East Africa. APDK is a recognised organisation by the Department of Health.
It consists of a rehabilitation centre in Mombasa, on the coast of Kenya and a community rehabilitation component in rural and urban areas throughout the country.
This programme emphasises the rights of those with disabilities in all aspects of society. In line with the UN Convention on Human Rights and the more recent UN Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities (May, 2008), CBM and APDK are working to eliminate the barriers that prevent those with disabilities from becoming independent.

- Raising awareness amongst the public (including school pupils) about on Rights Based Rehabilitation
- People with Disabilities referred to APDK
- Rehabilitation and follow-up services for people with disabilities
- Integration of children with Disabilities into mainstream education
- People with Disabilities are enabled to become self employed or secure jobs
- Constitution, policies and programmes changed to rights based model in line with UN convention on Human Rights
