The post-2015 development agenda will be voted on this year and we will continue to work hard to ensure that people with disabilities are included.
In 2015, we will continue working with our partner organisations to improve the lives of people with disabilities by supporting them with health, education and emergency responses programmes.
Alongside our work in the field, we will raise the voices of the most vulnerable people to international levels, such as the United Nations or the European Union. We want to express their needs and expectations but also their concerns about global decisions. People with disabilities want to be included in international decision-making processes and the year 2015 is an important step to achieving this.

Post-2015 development agenda
In September 2015, the United Nations (UN) Summit will adopt the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) : the future development agenda in the world. CBM along with our partners IDA, IDDC and others are working closely with the involved parties to ensure that people with disabilities are included in these goals. This is the basis for inclusion in national policies.
People with disabilities were excluded from the MDGs as well as many national, global and UN development programmes. The aim of our Advocacy work is to ensure that people with disabilities are not excluded from future programmes.
For this new crucial phase, we are participating actively in working groups to continually highlight the rights of people with disabilities and the impact of each goal on the men, women and children living with disabilities. In our work, we ensure that people with disabilities themselves can influence theses key processes. We also work on defining the implementation process once these goals are approved.
The year 2015: goals, promises and actions
On December 2014, the Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon’s synthesis report was launched: “The Road to Dignity by 2030: Ending Poverty, Transforming All Lives and Protecting the Planet.”
As we know, people with disabilities are often living in poverty and our partner’s programmes aim to improve their lives through health care and education.
2015 is a key year for the global organisations to all agree on common objectives to build a better world. It is part of our work at CBM to liaise with our partners to strengthen together the voice of people with disabilities.
