CBM makes submission on Foreign Policy

CBM Ireland recently made a submission to the Irish government's consultation on Foreign Policy. This review comes at a crucial moment in international thinking about the inclusion of persons with disabilities in external relations and international cooperation.

As Ireland's expected ratification of the CRPD is due to occur within the lifetime of the revised Foreign Policy, it is clear that the Irish government will need to continue to make tangible steps to ensure that activities that fall within the remit of Ireland's external relations are inclusive of people with disabilities and promotes their equal participation in countries that Ireland trades with or provides aid to.

In its submission, CBM Ireland highlighted two key areas, these are:
1. A rights-based approach to Foreign Policy
2. The need for Policy Coherence for Inclusive Development.
