Your Will - A vision for future generations
How your legacy could change a child's life
Born with cataracts in both his eyes, Emmanuel missed out on so much during his childhood. Like being able to read. And playing games with his friends. He was even denied the simple pleasure of being able to see his own mother clearly .
Emmanuel was totally blind in one eye, and the other was just good enough to give him a little peripheral vision. But thanks to our kind supporters, Emmanuel's sight has been restored by doctors at a CBM supported Eye Hospital.
Emmanuel can now see again. And when we asked him about the most interesting thing he'd seen since his operation, he replied: "Momma!"
Our compassionate instinct is to reach out to children like Emmanuel. And while this is not always possible during our lifetime, with a legacy to CBM, you can continue reaching out time and time again.
How to include CBM in your will
If you are planning to leave CBM a gift in your will, it's very important that you consult your solicitor about the correct procedure. There are two ways you can leave a gift in your will. You can give a specific amount of money, or a specific item (known as a pecuniary bequest). Or you can leave a proportion of what's left over after you provide for your family and loved ones (known as a residuary bequest).
A residuary bequest
"I give to CBM Ireland, M:TEK Building, Knockaconny, Co. Monaghan, all (or a fraction) of the residue of my estate whatsoever, and I direct that the receipt of the Treasurer of other officer for the time being of the said Organisation shall be a full and sufficient discharge of the same".
A pecuniary bequest
"I give the sum of €_______ or I bequeath (the item specified) to CBM Ireland, M:TEK Building, Knockaconny, Co. Monaghan and I direct the the Treasurer or other proper officer for the time being of the said Organisation shall be proper and sufficient discharge for the same".
No legacy is too small
Anyone can leave a legacy to CBM. Every gift, no matter how large or small, makes a real difference. That's the wonderful thing about leaving a legacy to CBM, because even a gift that helps just one person, will have far reaching effects for their family and future generations.
